Expo 2020; one of the most anticipated business and commerce events of the 21st Century. Unfortunately, it had to be postponed due to COVID-19 until the 1st October 2021, to the 31st March 2022. But now, it’s finally underway!
It’s taking place between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in the UAE. The location itself is a plaza in the south of Dubai; Al Wasl, and is enclosed by three thematic districts. Each one is specifically dedicated to one of the sub-themes of Expo 2020 – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. Included in the site is an entire emergency centre, which consists of an isolation room, emergency care room, ambulances and even helicopter services.
With over 191 participating nations, extensive pavilions, eye-catching events, attractions and experiences, the Dubai Expo’s main objective is to inspire and initiate the highest possible level of opportunity, whilst creating a better future focused on sustainability and mobility.
Thanks to EDB Mauritius, Premier Ship Models have been granted the wonderful opportunity to attend the Expo. The invitation was extended to us because they see our ambition and hunger for improvement. We’re extremely grateful for the opportunity, and are making the absolute most of it!
Enormous names like Ellie Goulding and Andrea Bocelli spearheaded the opening ceremony, taking place on the 30th September 2021. These names demonstrate the gravitas of the Expo, and the appeal it holds for the partaking companies and potential customers alike. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Emir of Dubai, made the opening declaration. Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, also spoke. He said at the ceremony, “Today, the entire world gathers in the United Arab Emirates. Today, we witness, together, a new beginning, as we inaugurate together, with the blessings of Allah, Expo 2020 Dubai. May God grant us success.”
His ambition for his country matches the ambition of the entire Expo, and the concurrent ambition of every company lucky enough to participate.

Another spokesman was the Vice President of Communications for Expo 2020, Mohamed AlAnsaari, he said, “Expo 2020 is UAE’s commitment to building a cleaner, safer, healthier and more inclusive future for every person from every community. Post pandemic, Expo 2020 aspires to celebrate creativity, innovation, humanity and world cultures. With this in mind, for 182 consecutive days, the Expo site will be alive with unmissable sights, sounds, rhythms and flavours from across the globe.”
The Expo is a brilliant opportunity for the best and brightest minds to fully express themselves. One of its many purposes is to showcase the most revolutionary technology, architecture, learning, arts, culture, music, food, entertainment and so much more.
Several million people are expected to visit Dubai throughout the six-month Expo. The most innovative, intuitive companies will have displays and stands, and so being a part of it is a massive honour for all of us at Premier Ship Models. Additionally, this exposure is brilliant and a huge privilege. The popularity of the Expo represents the company’s success in recent years, and our growing levels of ambition, as previously mentioned.
The models we’ll have on display are as follows:
- Endeavour Yacht
- St Géran
- Arab Dhow
- Racing Dhow
- Riva Aquarama
Each of these models are brilliantly intricate and exquisite, every piece is meticulously built. They reflect the company’s hardworking ethos, as well as the desire for improvement and perfection. The Endeavour Yacht is one of the more striking models. It was built for the 1934 America’s Cup by Camper and Nicholson in Gosport, England. This pioneered the quadrilateral genoa, a twin-clewed headsail providing incredible sail area and massive power.

Premier Ship Models will be located in the Mauritius Pavilion, in the Opportunity District of the Expo. We are proud of our Mauritian heritage, and the culture surrounding the island. The Mauritius Pavilion is being described as the ‘roots of the future,’ and to be part of that is a massive honour and we certainly feel very privileged. Whilst in the Mauritius Pavilion, you can also learn all about the enormous levels of biodiversity, the Indian Ocean, and even the Dodo, the extinct, flightless bird!
We have a dedicated .com/ae website, catered specifically for customers and enthusiasts based in the UAE, and in fact any Arabic speakers all over the globe. This greatly increases our accessibility, and furthers our worldwide outreach. As an entirety, the website is one of the many areas that reflects our drive, which is synonymous with our determination to grow.
Overall, each and every one one of us at Premier Ship Models is immensely proud to be involved in the Expo, and be a part of the Mauritius Pavilion. We strive for the utmost quality, and our ambition, whilst still realistic, is without limit. The Dubai Expo is the most prestigious event for businesses all over the globe this year, and so, as previously stated, to be involved is a massive privilege and honour.
